Distracted by nice things
As if being distracted by Facebook, twitter, YouTube, and nosing reading the blogs of other arty-types, does not waste enough of my time (in a good way of course), I have now been seduced by Pinterest. Ruth Singer first brought it to my attention, very quickly followed by Cat Salter.
Pinterest describes itself as:
Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.
Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.
My immediate favourite pin-themes are inspiration and recipe boards. I have indeed caved into peer pressure and have now created my own account:
All looking a bit blank at the moment but I am confident that this will not be the case for long!
The counter-argument to any ‘wasting-time’ accusations is that this is actually a great resource for inspiration and research (that is the officially line I am sticking to anyway). It most certainly is not an opportunity to just frivolously look at nice things...
