Secret Santa

One of the painting projects that I have been working on over the past couple of weeks was a gift for the 'Secret Santa' at my workplace. I am sure most people have either been involved in a 'Secret Santa', or have at least heard about it, so I won't go into the whole concept. However, the twist with the draw that we did this year was that the gift was not allowed to be more than £5, and it must begin with the first letter of the person's name.

This left me with the predicament of finding a present for up to £5 beginning with the letter 'E'. After pondering this for some time (getting stuck on 'eggnog', 'egg cup' and 'elephant'), and following an unfruitful trip into town to see if I could stumble across something by chance, I decided to try and do a small painting as my gift.

The person I had to buy the gift for keeps donkey's and so, after seeing an advert about Disney, inspiration struck and I decided to do a painting of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. The resulting painting, now wrapped and delivered, was 'E is for Eeyore':

This was a fun painting to do; I used to draw cartoon characters all the time when I was a child so this was going right back to my roots. The addition of the glittery Santa hat is probably the most Christmassy I get! The painting is meant to be a bit of fun, and kitsch, so I hope that the recipient likes it (and does not read my blog before opening it!).

If you factor in the cost of the canvas, paint, glitter, and my time at around 0.05p an hour, I think I just about managed to stay within the £5 limit!
